2007 is coming to it’s end and it has been a spectacular and interesting year and I know 2008 will be even more spectacular :)

In the yampp world we saw Jespers new yamppod. A small interresting mp3player that you can program yourself. Unfortunately I haven’t had time to play alot with it but others have and they are making good progress.

In the world of RapidWeaver there has been even more going on. We have seen RapidWeaver 3.6 this year which was a huge step up compared to version 3.5. And they have been working hard to make it more robust, something that was/is a bit of a problem in 3.5. I have released two plugins for RapidWeaver, High-Light and @stash which were originally designed to add some functionality I was missing in RapidWeaver but later released to the public. Initially both were released as freeware but with the release of @stash v1.1 I switched to a commercial license for @stash. The respons for both of these plugins have been great, especially since both of them targets a very narrow market compared to other page-style plugins that appeals to more users.

For 2008 I have a lot in my backpack. @stash will see a “smart” improvment that will enhance the @stash((item)) import tag even further. High-Light may see some small configuration improvments. And I will also relase something new :)

RapidWeaver will show up in version 4.0, for Leopard only, and it will be yet another huge step forward for the webdesign application we all like. Hopefully the yamppod hardware development will pick up it’s pace as it seems like it has halted. And for me personally 2008 will be the best year ever if all goes well :)

That was a little rambling of times past and times to come. I will not make any more posts this year since I will be going up north for christmas. So I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

PS: Don’t forget to take advantage of the christmas deal on @stash if you have been thinking of buying it. DS.

Yesterday I received my yamppod, the latest creation by Jesper Hansen. It’s a small fully customizable mp3-player with flash storage that he has developed. It has an Atmel AT91SAM7S128 (ARM-7TDMI 32-bit CPU) with 128KB flash memory and 32KB RAM. The mp3 decoder is a VS1033 decoder from VLSI which supports MP3, WMA, AAC & WAV. The display is a 1.6″ Color LCD capable of 131*131 pixels and 4096 colors. The flash memory is a T-Flash (Micro-SD) card which means that you can currently have up to 2GB storage. Songs will be possible to transfer via USB2 (Full speed ~12MB/sec) but that is not yet implemented. The battery is a 650 mAh Li-Ion polymer cell that should give you ~8 hours playtime and is charged through the USB cable. It’s available in 5 different colors of anodized aluminum, you can see pictures of the housings here.

Oh, did I mention that the software is open-source? :-)

<strike>I was supposed to show a picture of my yamppod</strike><strike> here but i’m having some problems uploading it so it will be here later…</strike>

Update: Here is the first picture of my new yamppod.

I made some changes to the download page recently. You can no longer access any of the files directly, instead the file is served by a small php-script. You should not notice any changes from how it worked before. It will just be easier for me to see how many times the files are downloaded :-)

Today I finally got time to recompile and upload a new version of the USB-DLL with the bugfix that Mic found and fixed earlier for comports >= COM10. More information about the fix can be found in this thread in the yampp-forum. I made a small visual change to his fix but I have tested it with my yampp-7 connected as COM13 and it works. I also uploaded new binary downloads for ylink with the new DLL.
