For some time now I have been serving a special optimized blog to visitors using an iPhone/iPod Touch or other supported mobile devices. The great thing is that this is a feature that is supported by WP-Blog using a third-party plugin in WordPress and the setup is really painless.

There is an excellent plugin called WPtouch available for WordPress that gives your visitors a very sleek and function optimized appearance on iPhone, and other mobile devices too. Since this plugin hooks into WordPress in a special way it needed special treatment to work with WP-Blog. But this is such a great plugin I decided that it was definately worth the extra effort and I think you will like it too.

To enable this on your site you will need to install and activate the custom WordPress theme supplied with WP-Blog you can enable support for WPtouch

This is how it looks (if you want to test it just visit my blog using your iPhone/iPod Touch):

My blog rendered on my iPhone

Time has come to reveal the last of the new features in @stash. This may not seem like a big feature but it is. From this version you will no longer have to manually keep track on where you have used the @stash((name)) tag.

Force page updates when a @stash item is changed
@stash now keeps track of which items that are imported on other pages using the @stash((name)) tag and tries to mark those pages as changed when the item is modified. This functionality can only be done as “best effort” since there is no way for me to know if a tag has been removed from a page. Therefor I have added a “reset” button in the setup where you can clear the current tracking and start with a “clean slate”. This can be used if you have been adding/removing the tag on pages in your project and you start to be “annoyed” that pages that doesn’t import an item are marked as changed when you change an item. To start using this feature mark all pages as changed (or at least all pages where you know that the tag is used on) and either preview or publish/ export those pages. When you have done that this function should be up and running.

That was all, I hope you like what has been presented. Stay tuned for an announcement … about the public beta :)

Until now @stash has been limited to styled textareas, and a few other places, only unless you inserted the whole item code. Starting with @stash v1.1 you can start using items in some other places too.

Uploading selected items to the webserver
It is now possible to select items that will be uploaded to the webserver so that they can be referenced in places where the @stash tag is normally not working. An example where this could be used is to put a css-file inside @stash and mark it for upload. You can then put the following code inside the “Header” part of another page:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="itempath" />

These items are uploaded into the “files” sub-directory for the @stash page and you can use that path to reference the item(s) in your code.

This feature is not enabled by default so if you want to use it you will need to open the settings and enable it. By doing so the @stash page will be enabled, but hidden from the menu.

Key-shortcut for uploaded items
If an item is marked for upload and you hold down the “Ctrl” button when you drag the item from the inspector it will insert the full path to the item from the current page. This feature is only available for items where “Upload item” is checked. The inserted string will look like this:

../../../page0/files/Tutorial - SidebarBox

Tomorrow the last of the new features will be on display, so stay tuned…

It’s time to start going through the new feature in @stash beyond the cosmetic changes. First out is a small new feature called:

Page notes
This is the reason why the @stash inspector was redesigned. The @stash inspector has a new tab where you can add a “note” for the current page. This can be used to keep notes about things to do on that page etc. The “note” is a standard textview so it is possible to add “a lot” of text (with formatting) but that is not what it is meant to be used for. This tab will also show when the note was last updated (i.e. not the page).

This is just a small new feature that is not really part of the core functionality in @stash. Tomorrow we will go through a feature the extends the places where you can use @stash even more…

So what has happened in the main view in @stash since v1.0? Well, it hasn’t been seeing a major rewrite like the inspector. But there are still plenty of improvments that makes @stash even more easy to use.

Counting of items
The item list has a “count badge” on all groups that shows how many items that is inside the group. This feature is designed to show this:

A “collapsed” group will show all items in that group and it’s subgroups

An “expanded” group will show all items in that group, if there are no items in that group but there are items in subgroup(s) no count will be shown.

The source list header also shows the total count of all items stored in @stash.

Context menu for the sourcelist
There is now a context menu in the sourcelist that gives you access to a number of key actions that will assist you when you are organizing your items. The menu has the following options:

   Add------------
   --- |---- New Item
   Rename |---- New group
   Delete
   ---
   Group
   ---
   Duplicate
   ---
   Export item(s)...

Support folder where you can store @stash files
There is now a support folder for @stash where you can put all your files for easy access. The location for this folder is:

"~/Library/Application Support/RapidWeaver/Stash"

Key-shortcuts for import button
You can now use the “option” or “shift” button when importing items into @stash to be taken to either RWs “Snippets” folder (shift) or @stash own support folder (option). Default location if no key is pressed is the last folder used in RW.

Improved display when resizing horizontally
When the source list is resized horisontally the items are now truncated in the middle similar to how filenames are truncated in Finder.

Key-shortcut for export button
You can now use the “option” button when exporting items from @stash to be taken to @stash support folder. Default location if no key is pressed is the last folder used in RW.

Tomorrow we will start going through all the new exiting features that has made it into @stash…

Welcome to the first little teaser on what is new in @stash v1.1 :)

Today we will focus on the @stash inspector which has gone through a major rewrite in v1.1. Unfortunately I cannot show any images from where i’m sitting right now so you have to cope with my descriptions.

Goodbye HUD inspector :( :)
With the introduction of another new feature that will be announced later the @stash inspector is now a “normal” unified inspector since a HUD inspector doesn’t feel appropriate anymore.

Improved dragging from the inspector
Previously you could drag either the “tag” or the item’s code from the inspector by changing the checkbox “Insert code instead of tags”. This setting can now be inverted by holding down the “option” key when you start dragging the item.

Improved drag-image from the inspector
The drag image shown when you drag items into RW has been updated so that it now shows what you are inserting instead of always showing the same.

One more thing…
…connected to item number 2 above that will be presented later.

Tomorrow we will take a closer look at the main window in @stash to see what has happened there…
